Dealing with Difficult Behaviours Workshop

Home Support Nova Scotia Association is pleased to offer home support agencies and long term care facilities in Nova Scotia the opportunity to participate in a Workshop on Dealing with Difficult Behaviour.
Workshop Options:
There are two different ways the workshop is being offered:
(1) to in-house educators (facilitators workshop), enabling them to provide training sessions for staff, or (2) having our facilitator conduct the training session with front line staff.
What is the Difficult Behaviours Workshop?
The facilitator’s workshop takes a full day to complete but will provide on-site staff with the tools to conduct future sessions. If conducted by an HSNSA’s facilitator, front line staff would participate in a half day interactive workshop learning techniques on how to deal with difficult situations.
Participants in both sessions would begin by reviewing basic communication skills required for effective interaction, as well as identifying specific behavioral characteristics that can either hinder or augment therapeutic relationships. Both workshops examine typical difficult behaviours that can be encountered while providing services, including possible causes and appropriate responses. There is also an opportunity for participants to enhance their skills for assertive interaction.
