Types of Membership

Home Support Nova Scotia Association is a membership-driven organization that works collaboratively with members to provide programs and services which enhance the home support industry in Nova Scotia. Our success is measured by our ability to assist our members in achieving their goals.
Full Membership
A full member is any government funded not-for-profit home support organization. To be eligible for a full membership, the organization must:
- Be in agreement with the Memorandum of Association and By-laws, the Mission Statement and the Vision Statement;
- Be located in the province of Nova Scotia;
- Be incorporated under an appropriate act such as the Societies Act of Nova Scotia;
- Have a duly elected Executive or Board;
- Full membership entitles the member to full member privileges.
Benefits to Full Member
- Attend and participate in Annual, Semi-Annual, regular general, or special general meetings of the Association (full voting privileges);
- Participate in the governance of the Association with an opportunity to hold office;
- Eligible for Long Term Service Awards;
- Receive minutes and notices of meetings, the Association newsletter, the annual report and other information from the Association;
- Opportunities to provide your views on key initiatives through membership surveys and on-line questionnaires;
- Opportunities to participate in strategic planning;
- Access to HSNSA initiatives;
- Discounts on HSNSA services and educational resources;
- Discounts on HSNSA Conference Rates;
- Discounts on exhibit space at the HSNSA conference;
- Opportunities to support Home Support Worker Week;
- An organization profile in the HSNSA annual membership directory
- Participate in the Awards Program
Partner Organization
A partner organization is any non-government funded, home support agency or long term care facility, residential care facility, or assisted living organization who, through its commitment to the work of Home Support Nova Scotia Association, supports the work of HSNSA and expresses an interest in home support issues. A partner organization must:
- Be in agreement with the Memorandum of Association, the Mission Statement and the Vision Statement;
- Be located in the province of Nova Scotia; and
- Primarily provide home support or long term care services to clients in Nova Scotia;
- Partner organizations are non-voting members in the affairs of the Association and receive member privileges specific to partner members.
Benefits to Partner Organization
- Attend and participate in Annual, Semi-Annual, regular general, or special general meetings of the Association (no voting privileges);
- Be invited to participate in, but not chair committees of the Association;
- Receive board highlights page and notices of meetings, the Association newsletter, the annual report and other information from the Association;
- Opportunities to provide your views on key initiatives through membership surveys and on-line questionnaires;
- Access to HSNSA initiatives;
- Discounts on HSNSA services and educational resources;
- Discounts on HSNSA Conference Rates;
- Discounts on exhibit space at the HSNSA conference;
- Opportunities to support Home Support Worker Week;
- An organization profile in the HSNSA annual membership directory
- Participate in the Awards Program.
Supporting Member
A supporting member is any interested organization, corporation/business, government department, or individual who:
- Is in agreement with the Memorandum of Association, the Mission Statement and the Vision Statement; and
- Expresses an interest in home support issues;
- Supporting members are non-voting members in the affairs of the Association and receive member privileges specific to supporting members
Benefits to Supporting Member
- Attend and participate in Annual, Semi-Annual, regular general, or special general meetings of the Association (no voting privileges);
- Participate in the work of a committee of the Association upon invitation of the committee chair;
- Receive board highlights page and notices of meetings, the Association newsletter, the annual report and other information from the Association;
- Opportunities to provide your views on key initiatives through membership surveys and on-line questionnaires;
- Access to HSNSA initiatives;
- Discounts on HSNSA Conference Rates;
- Discounts on exhibit space at the HSNSA conference;
- Opportunities to support Home Support Worker Week;
- An organization profile in the HSNSA annual membership directory;
