Mission
Through strong leadership and a commitment to excellence, Home Support Nova Scotia Association promotes, supports, and strengthens the home support industry in Nova Scotia.
 
Vision
Home Support Nova Scotia Association is the leader in advocating for home support as an integral component of the health care continuum and is responsive to its stakeholders.
 
Goal
    To enhance the HSNSA’s visibility and value in the eyes of agencies and other stakeholders
    To elevate the profile of home support, and of staff as health team members
    To facilitate lifelong learning amongst Member agencies and their staff
 
Core Values and Beliefs
We believe in Knowledge and therefore we…
    support the principles of life-long learning;
    acknowledge staff self-improvement efforts, supporting personal/individual growth and development;
    strive to continuously evolve the practice;
    exchange information and other resources with others;
    foster relevant research; and
    seek current evidence in making decisions;
 
We believe in Courage and therefore we…
    take risks to be a strong voice for leadership in the industry;
    make difficult decisions when needed to strengthen the industry;
    welcome and influence change;
    stand by our convictions in the face of adversity;
    mirror the dedication, strength and commitment of home support staff doing the work every day; and
    continue to work for the right thing despite ongoing obstacles.
 
We believe in Engagement and therefore we…
    consult with our members in determining HSNSA direction and priorities;
    acknowledge contributions and celebrate successes that have been shaped by members’ input;
    welcome constructive criticism;
    encourage broad-based participation at Regional Board meetings;
    consult with partners and external stakeholders on matters of mutual interest;
    share our knowledge and resources; and
    welcome opportunities/invitations to be involved with others.

  acknowledge differences and the opinions of others while making clear the Association’s stand on the issue;
    hold home support clients, staff, and the work that they do in high regard;
    guard/protect the reputation of home support and staff within the health system;
    honour our Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals.
 
We believe in Responsiveness and therefore we…
  are open-minded and seek input from others;
    act in a timely manner to seize opportunities and reduce risks;
    flex in dealing with emerging industry issues in the context of our strategic goals and priorities;
    ensure that our priorities reflect the priorities of members; and
